DKNY : The OG of High Fashion Street Style

DKNY Women's - Runway - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014

“She invented what a powerful woman in fashion can be,” – Kelly Osbourne

When thinking of Donna Karen’s DKNY brand, three things come to mind; classic, stylish and high fashion street style. This woman is a true fashion visionary! Throughout her years in the fashion industry she has managed to remain timeless, creating clothing that appeals to the masses. You see before there was a Jeremy Scott, Donna was the first to use ‘’Urban street style” as inspiration for her new and innovative brand.

This past Sunday, during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, DKNY celebrated 25 years of her fashion empire. Donna Karen has been able to stay relevant and continues to create garments we all love. This tremendous milestone is one that many designers and fashion business owners strive for in this industry. DKNY SS14 has been added to my list of favorites for the spring season. The show featured so many chic looks inspired by the reoccurring  90’s fashion  trends. Flirty, flippy skirts now made of neoprene, slouchy trousers and even overalls. There was the updated version of “the naked dress” with its invisible straps and sexy bias cut that Carrie Bradshaw wore on “Sex and the City,” and a surprise appearance of the new face of her line the fashion savvy songstress, Rita Ora ( Washington Post).Donna Karen states. “We celebrated the city of life, it happens in New York City. They’re clothes that last forever. They’re clothes that have been inspired from nylons to lifestyle to yoga to bathing suits. You name it we do it, but it’s done within the DKNY frame and I think they’re classics but they go to the next level,” she added.  It’s clear that Ms. Donna Karen is a fashion maven and as a fan of her brand I look forward to 25 more years of extraordinary fashion! Here’s to DKNY, Happy 25th Birthday.
